Keima Katsuragi fancies himself a god, no, THE god of a world he knows so well he refuses to spend any time outside of it, giving reality the brush-off at every turn. No matter the character type, no matter the scenario, Keima can conquer any 2-dimensional girl. He's planted his flag in the hearts of every fictional character in nearly every published game, to the point of running out of games to play, so he limits his interactions with the real world to answering e-mails from admirers seeking advice on their own favorite bishoujo games. His classmates hardly think of him as a god, of course, and more like a four-eyed, creepy otaku. That suits Keima just fine. Reality has no time for him, and he feels exactly the same way. He particularly can't stand real girls, which are confusing and poorly-written.

Thus this series should be evaluated entirely on its own merits rather than as an extension of the overall Romeo and Juliet franchise. Looked at that way, the first half stands up quite well. It spins an effectively dramatic, sometimes beautiful, and occasionally even emotional story stocked with plenty of action and all of the requisite romantic moments, one which tells of a young woman's struggle to come to terms with who she is and what she must do while contending with the first flowering of spontaneous love. It also details a young man's increasing dissatisfaction with what his father has wrought and willingness to favor matters of the heart over matters of familial loyalty.

"Reverse school fantasy" about high school boy, female vampire by DenYūDen's Takaya Kagami
A retail guide for Japanese bookstores lists a planned anime adaptation for the Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi light novel series by Takaya Kagami (The Legend of the Legendary Heroes/DenYūDen). The "reverse school fantasy" follows an ordinary high school boy named Taito Kurogane who is given a "poison" by a female vampire named Saitohimea, thus changing his life.
The light novel series launched in 2008, and the sixth volume shipped this year along with a spinoff novel. Shiori Asahina has been drawing a manga adaptation in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age magazine since last year, and the first compiled volume shipped in June. The official website for the magazine had listed an "important announcement" in the November issue, which will ship on October 9.
